Description: Non-profits and charities face virtually the same legal requirements and risks as for-profit businesses do. They also face additional challenges and risks as many work with volunteers and serve vulnerable populations.
This seminar will focus on understanding and addressing the legal requirements and risks faced by non-profits and charitable organizations. It will focus on the issues associated with proper governance structures, including by-laws and critical organizational policies. You will learn about the legal implications when serving vulnerable clients and the respective roles and responsibilities of senior management and the Board of Directors.
Upon completion of this seminar you will appreciate:
• What is required for an effective by-law
• The critical policies to address problems in the workplace
• The key elements for constructive staff and volunteer relations
Presenter: Peter Wilson, M.A., LL.B., LL.M.
